EBUS

Lourdes and Dr. Matharu are proud to bring EBUS – Endobronchial Ultrasound – to the Tri-Cities, keeping hundreds of patients at home!

Endobronchial Ultrasound Transbronchial Needle Aspiration (EBUS-TBNA) uses an ultrasonic bronchoscope, specifically designed for diagnostic biopsies and staging in the lung. The scope’s design enables physicians to visualize lymph nodes and surrounding vessels in real-time, via ultrasound, while simultaneously viewing the endoscopic image. The EBUS-TBNA System makes biopsies safer and more accurate than conventional “blind” TBNA and offers a less invasive, less costly alternative to mediastinoscopy.

Interests

Dr. Matharu’s personal interests include fishing, skiing, and spending time with his wife and two children. Dr. Matharu was born and raised in Vancouver, Canada and describes himself as a “Renaissance man” with experience as an infantryman, computer programmer, network architect and biochemical research.

His care team is carefully chosen and trained to participate in patient care.

“I look at the patient as a whole person, not just an organ system. Getting to know my patients and what has made them ill strongly influences how I care for them.”
