Lourdes General Surgeon, Wanda M. Good, DO, performed the first Robotic-assisted bariatric surgery in the Tri-Cities earlier this week.
Bariatric (weight loss) surgery is noted for resulting in significant weight loss. Perhaps more importantly, it’s sometimes the only way for individuals suffering from morbid obesity to decrease the likelihood of developing obesity-related metabolic illnesses, while also reaching their ideal healthy weight.
Dr. Good serves as Medical Director of Lourdes’ Center for Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery. Her diverse training and exceptional approach to patient care enables our community to receive innovative metabolic and bariatric treatment close to home. Staying local will allow Dr. Good and her team to care for patients throughout the process of qualifying for surgery, their surgical procedure, recovery and the transition to a new lifestyle.
Dr. Good strives to use surgery as a tool to assist patients in their journey to improve their health and overall quality of life.
“The importance of creating a comprehensive program to support patients through such a challenging and significant lifestyle change cannot be emphasized enough. It is imperative for patients to know they have a team of professionals who are each dedicated to supporting them through their journey.” – Dr. Good
Dr. Good brings extensive experience, and fellowship training in Robotic, metabolic and bariatric surgery completed after a 5 year general surgery residency, to Lourdes Surgical Specialists where she joins general surgeons, Richard Shallman, MD and Kelsey Shay, MD.
“Lourdes Robotic Surgery program has been very successful since its inception in the winter of 2016. We are excited to have someone of Dr. Good’s caliber bringing the combination of robotic, metabolic and bariatric services to our community.” – John Serle, President & CEO
