Dr. Karen Vaniver, Lourdes Chief of Plastic Surgery, is bringing together a group of ladies who’ve experienced post-mastectomy reconstruction to share their stories with others considering reconstruction.

Dr. Vaniver, a breast cancer survivor herself, will be discussing post-mastectomy reconstruction options and sharing her own personal journey at the reception.
Lourdes Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery is hosting the reception to coincide with National Breast Reconstruction Awareness Day. The event will focus on promoting awareness, education and access to services for post-mastectomy breast reconstruction.
“We want to help cancer patients move from feelings of loss and despair into a state of empowerment and hope. This is not just about vanity and physiological appearances,” reflects Vaniver. “The effects of reconstruction other cosmetic procedures, such as tattooing, can have a life-changing effect on cancer survivors.” – Dr. Vaniver
Dr. Vaniver, her staff, and her ebullient, strong and encouraging patients will be there to share their personal testimonies in a show of support for those who are just beginning their journey.
Lourdes Breast Reconstruction Specialist, Dr. Karen Vaniver will discuss reconstruction options and area survivors will share their stories. Refreshments will be served. Free to anyone wanting to learn more about breast reconstruction.
